I wouldn't worry about a superficial scratch on the surface.
In this case, the scratches are on an edge, the paint is actually chipped away to reveal the metal underneath. It is probably less than a millimeter thick, but it is visible nonetheless. It looks fine right now but after another winter maybe there will be rust and if that is going to mean an instant fail for MFK, I'd rather know that now. Maybe I or the seller can correct it before it gets worse.
