Registering with the gemeinde and owning a property are independent of each other. Both gemeinde want your taxes, but you will be considered resident and be paying where you figure as resident on Dec 31st, as mentioned by catandmouse. If you have kids you have to arrange their schooling a couple of months in advance. Good luck with the move!
