Re: General election

I am not sure that I equate the SVP with the conservative party. There are certainly elements of the conservative party that share the nationalistic right wing attitudes of the SVP. However, the SVP is really a is party of people who like to say "no" and often make racists or religiously insensitive comments. You just have to watch programmes like Arena on Swiss tv or see their posters during the various referendums to see the true colours of the SVP. The Berne fraction of the SVP seem to have traditionally been more balanced than the Zurich fraction that is known for it's right attitudes. Look at the wonderful Mr Blocher and how he has abused his postion as Justice minister to make party political comments and actions.

Remember it is the SVP who would like to repeal the anti racism laws andare the only party against protecting workers against passive smoking.

It will be very sad if the SVP increase their vote in the election.

What do other people think
