Your reaction tells me you don't have much experience beyond work either...

Someone in this field should know that while numbers matter, there's a lot of non-numerical elements that need to be considered in HE, i.e. it's not just about numbers.

You have zero work experience by your own admission. If you couldn't work out what I meant, I worry even more about your approach. You need to toughen up if you want to be a good consultant. Academic experience would put you at entry level for an analyst position in a big company or consulting agency.
Bullsheet. For consulting companies take undergraduates as analysts but PhDs come in at associate level.
