In fact the world was a lot more peaceful in 2003; Iraq and Afghanistan were the big ones plus some very minor actions in Liberia, Georgia and Djibouti.

Now we have Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen plus lots of smaller actions in Philippines, Ukraine, Libya, Niger, Mexico and more.
