Turkish army has been crossing the Iraqi border so many years now. what is happening in Syria is not so new. Plus, the distance of Afrin is not that far from Turkey.

I for one would have preferred that Erdogan never intervened with Syria in the first place, then the turkish army wouldn't have the need to cross the border. Erdogan has played a major role in destabilizing his own country.
The risk in Syria is that Erdogan, accidentally or not, runs up against the US or Russian military with awful consequences
