Nobody knows what the people wanted, because when given an opportunity to give the government a mandate to carryout the opinion they expressed in the referendum, they failed to do so. Furthermore they failed to give the mandate for a Labour style BREXIT. So there is nothing there to support any kind of BREXIT beyond stating that there is some kind of a vague idea that they'd like to leave.
