Is Australia doing good? Yes. Is it part of the EU? No. Still, let's be honest here, the EU is a big falling protectionist market. Growth is very low, wages of the youth are low, population is in decline, and innovation lags behind the USA and China. The question here is that Brussels bureaucrats are spoiled brats who are trying to blackmail Britain for no reason. They should respect the democratic choice of the British people, sign a trade deal, and move on. No need to read up.
Why should the EU just "sign a trade deal" because the UK wants it to?

The EUs job is to protect its own members and not the interests of an ex member. The EU should only agree a deal if it is clearly to the benefit of the EU and its members.

Same with the backstop. The EUs obligation is to protect the interests of its member, the Republic of Ireland. Not the UK.

I see you, like many Brexiters, are incapable of grasping this.
