Work people often ask you to leave a key in a safe place or with a neighbour if you aren't going to be home. However, I've always found them amenable to rearranging appointments if you don't want to do that. If your apartment is empty, then I wouldn't be so concerned though, and as already mentioned, just get confirmation in writing that the rental agency accepts all liability. These keys/locks are expensive to replace as the keys are unique in that they often open common areas as well, so just beware that if you lose one, it's a costly business getting it sorted out!?
