Re: Tick Prevention - What are you using this year?

As previously mentioned, I did use the tic clip on 2 dogs whilst living in Switzerland with good results, one medium coat and one wire haired. Since moving permanently to our house in rural France I have had to go down the chemical route. I now wonder whether this is due to the “manicured” nature of Switzerland rather than the efficacy of the clip. I would love the clip to work, maybe it does in areas of low tick infestation but here, no chance.
Thanks, I did see your post, were you in the forest a lot? I encounter a heck of a lot of ticks, so probably wouldn't have much of an effect.

I asked my vet about the amber beads.

He said they work great as long as the dog does not encounter any ticks.

Proabaly similar sentiment on the tick clip, garlic and holy water type solutions.
Personally I've had great success in areas of high infestation with garlic, especially the brand Springtime in the US, but I totally think it depends on the dog and the area. Here the only dog garlic supplement I've found is not very effective, so there you have it.
