If it's something small such as this, the car is not unroadworthy and you can drive it until next test.


The OP has an estimate of 2k for repairs......either the engine is very dirty or it's a bit more.



Sometimes they pass ther car even with a minor fault and they trust you to get it fixed, such as headlights not pointing quite the right way.


Roll up with bald tires or worn out brake pads you won't be allowed to leave the test center
