For an income of 85k, most will say that spending up to 1/3rd for rent is fine, ie about 28k in your case - or about 2.5k monthly (plus a bit..)

That will get you a decent 2/2.5 room flat in Zürich (fairly new one at semi-prime location)

Depends how much commute you like, but if you'd not mind 17min by train (train every 15min) to Zürich Stadelhofen (and a few minutes to the station from the flat with matching bus service, or about 12min walking..), I'd have a 3.5 rooms flat in Wetzikon available.

New kitchen, fairly new bathroom, very quiet yet central (3min walking to large Coop, 5min to MMM). Available immediately, rent would be within your budget (around 1600 CHF)
