Petrol cars don't explode, LNG/CNG on the other hand... Quite common back home (probably mostly because the owners did the retrofit themselves and/or are too cheap to pay a professional to have it serviced).

Driving a BEV daily (15k km/year) for work, I am not looking back to petrol and diesel powered cars. Had to drive one last week in the caucasian mountains it feels like riding a donkey (grantend it was a Priora).

If you search for a commuter car, the Tesla Model 3 LR might is a solid choice.

If BEVs are an absolute no no, I really can recommend you the Toyota and Lexus Hybrids. Since you want to have a nice interior, go for a Lexus.

Good alternative could be a volvo (XC40).
