Your employer, not the client is responsible for your reference letter. However as it is not normal to get reference letters as a contractor, it will most likely be just a statement of employment.

A contractor friend of mine asked for a reference and it was entirely written by the client into a procurement system. His last manager for whom he had only worked for a few months wrote it despite having had worked for the client for many years. The actual "employer" didn't want to write anything.
When the RAV got involved there was quite a lot of to-and-fro with the reference.
