Just as an update for those interested:

I have been looking into the costs for giving birth in Switzerland for someone who is non-resident and does not have insurance in Switzerland.

I was looking in Lausanne and have received one quote back from La Source Clinics:

Hospitalization for a delivery or a caesarean in a room with 2 beds
· CHF 14’000.- for a normal delivery (6 days)
· CHF 17'000.- for a caesarean (8 days)

Hospitalization for a delivery or a caesarean in a private room with 1 bed
· CHF 15’500.- for a normal delivery (6 days)
· CHF 19'000.- for a caesarean (8 days)

This does NOT cover obstetrician, assistant in case of caesarean, anaesthesiologist and paediatrician which would be costs on top of. And this is purely the delivery of the baby so not including antenatal, prenatal, postnatal care etc.

The cost for an antenatal course in Switzerland (the educational 2hours x 6 weeks) is in the region of CHF 250 - 300 in Vaud.

I think it will cost close to CHF 30k to cover all costs in Switzerland if you do not have insurance.

Hope this helps any other people like me who have holiday homes in Switzerland and wanted to consider it!

p.s. this quote was received as the costs for giving birth in Switzerland as at September 2019.
