Can you switch your primary plan to eSIM? I've switched my iPhone Xr's primary SIM to eSIM (Swisscom). This cost nothing (it's on my employer's business account, but AFAIK it really costs nothing).

This way, I can put the physical SIM of our on-call Android phone in it and only have one big-ass physical phone with me (and more importantly, not be forced to use Android...).

AFAIK, there's much more choice in physical pre-paid SIMs in most European countries.
You will have to buy several, though, if you want to stay "local" in different countries.
