I know quite a large number of them personally and the fact is that you won't be a popular colleague if you have homophobic views so it makes perfect sense not to use an openly homophobic supplier...
I'm not quite sure what your objection is.

It is a stereotype that there are more gay airline flight attendants (specifically among male crew) than in general.
You believe this to be the case.
The figures suggest you are right to believe this.
You being right doesn't stop it being a stereotype.
Employing a stereotype is not in and of itself offensive or wrong.

Going back to your point about it making sense. Does it? Swiss has over 9000 employees. While gay people might be over-represented (statistically) as flight attendants, is that true of the entire workforce? If not, it makes no more sense for Swiss to boycott Läderach than it does for e.g. Walter Meier. However, it makes sense for Swiss to boycott the supplier if it is perceived that the connection is harming Swiss's reputation.

If the reputation can be enhanced by broadcasting the severance of the relationship, then it makes even more sense. But in my view it is driven entirely by financial interests and always will be. Ergo - it's virtue signalling. Swiss isn't really showing concern or sympathy for anyone. Follow the money.
