| Did you attend university in the US? When I went to university more than 40 years ago everyone had to meet “distribution requirements” humanities, social sciences, and languages in addition to science. | |

I worked at 4. The US undergrad gen edu courses are often done in European highschools, tbh.

| My post was referring to a negative comment further up about “liberal arts”. You need preparation across the board. | |

Indeed.
I think the comment was made to caricature a student profile as opposed to programs offered, or maybe a climate at lib arts places. Or taboo issues of sorts, not sure, can't speak for the member.

| I’ve just never heard of a parent living in student housing...not sure if students are considered adults at 18 or 21. The university ought to be responsible to some degree if the housing is university owned. I realize university housing and campuses are different in Europe. | |

Here it is 18 and here particularly there is a very little housing provided, students find their own places and live with whoever they see fit (or who their folks see fit, footing their kids' bills often). The fact thet the school let the toxic dude even apply to live at uni housing is something they should explain. I stayed at a US uni coed housing where weird people were let to live, long term. Esteemed faculty friends, etc. I still have heebeegeebees.
