Re: Apartment temperatures - A/C installation

Sleeping at night -use a fan!!! simple cheap and effective.
Your skin temperature is normally just above 30 deg. Air temp is under 30 every night in Switzerland. Hence flowing air will not only feel as if it is cooling, it actually is. A fan works during the daytime if one can keep the internal temperature down below 30 (the reverse heat pump in our minergie flat does cool by around 2 deg and the shutters are really effective against direct sunlight) and the fan itself generates much less heat than an air-con unit so the efficiency is much greater. At night, you may need to still use a sheet or pyjamas as it can get too cold. Look around for a quiet fan, there are some great ones around and maybe a timer to switch off in the early hours.
But if you want the excitement of coping with the hassle of organising a legal air/con unit or want the thrill of an illegal one............
