it's also down to your employer - if they are paying well below the 'market rate' for the work you do and not giving you a guaranteed monthly salary they are exploiting you and you are basically undercutting a local from getting a job. There has to be some sort of limit on cheap, desperate, foreign workers.



Oh, and your USA citizenship is not what your permit is based on - clearly it's Swedish or you wouldn't have been allowed in without a proper work contract.


You can ask the authorities what the base line salary is - and then ask your employer to guarantee that minimum salary or you need to find another job... generally for a single person a basic liveable salary is around 4000chf/month.
