Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

I know and i hope we all appreciate the front line medical workers during this period but also let's not forget the many others who are working overtime :

"I'm a grocery store cashier and tonight someone said to me "thanks for being here" and I almost cried. I don't think I've ever been so exhausted in my life. Working nonstop the last week and a bit has been insane and it's catching up to me now. It's frustrating to have people cursing at us about us enforcing limits on certain products, it's nausea-inducing to walk in for a shift and see lineups to the back of the store, we've had cashiers having anxiety attacks due to the chaos of the crowds. We close at 10 and on Friday, 3 of us stayed an extra hour to try to get stuff back on the shelves and clean up the disaster but we barely made a dent.
Our sales from Friday night ALONE surpassed our sales from the entire WEEK of Christmas. We have part timers getting called in every single day and having shifts extended, some of them are working 40+ hours this week.
Through all of this, I'm still writing papers due next week and having to study for exams that are up in the air. And to hear that one customer acknowledge the fact that we're still showing up overwhelmed me with appreciation."

so when you are running to get the last loo roll, maybe we can all be a little more patient/ appreciative to those who are stocking our shelves (and re-stocking them alot)
