Hey, a bit of optimism helps, OP loses nothing with asking the landlord

I once saved a month of rent because the landlord (building manager) needed the flat for himself. Asking nicely was the equivalent of finding two 1000 francs bills lying on the street.

I think nobody is telling OP he's (he?) entitled to leave as he pleases. Everyone is telling there's a contract to follow, but sometimes you can talk your way out of a contract. Little to lose, a lot to win, why no try?
