Hardly any normal modern mass produced wine is designed to be aged..They have a lifespan of 3-5 years.. After that they probably won't get any better and might oxidise. It'll probably be fairly obvious from the colour and certainly the taste.

Many spirits age in the barrel, not in the bottle.. So those would likely just stay the same and not improve.

I once found a can of Tenants lager in the garage that 25 years out of date, it had Linda on the can (Scottish people will know what that means) .. I drank it and it tasted fine.
