No. It’s not dead here. Offshoring is not a solution for every project and the results are often suspect. Cost savings can be an illusion. Try to attach yourself to the companies, or pursue your own clients, which understand that. There will always be a well paying need for developers that are capable, responsive, and work well as part of a skilled team. (However, that does start to get a bit into the idea of having some management and architecture exposure while still being considered a developer.)

You also need proper credentials, an established body of work, documented efforts to update your skill set, and some good connections. Otherwise it will be a struggle to stay relevant.
