Re: Swiss or Lufthansa approved pet carrier - personal experiences

View Post
We flew with Swiss from the US to Zurich last year with our cat. We used the Sleepypod Air cat carrier. It was more expensive than other carriers, but also sturdier and more secure, which we liked so that she wouldn't be jostled around as much.

We were a little nervous about the dimensions, because you technically have to fold up the sides of this carrier to get it to meet the Swiss requirements (and because it's sturdy, they're not that easy to fold). But like others have said, Swiss only looked at the weight when we checked in. They didn't pay attention to the cat carrier at all when we were actually boarding the plane.

The dimensions on the Swiss website give length/height/width, but when I called Swiss (twice) to confirm, all they said was that as long as the dimensions don't exceed 118 cm total, the carrier is allowed.

Good luck!

Thank you!

Our carrier is under 118 cm in total. I'm happy to hear that. One thing less to worry about, I think we're safe
