I'd get the 125cc license...

125 ccm is Category A1. Till end of 2020 you must be 18 to ride 125 ccm with your A1 license. Otherwise you are restricted to 50 ccm. From 2021 the 50 ccm restriction for 16 to 18 year old's no longer applies.

For all those <18 year old which now (year 2020) have the A1 license and are restricted to 50 ccm due to age, the restriction is lifted 00:00:00, January 1st 2021.

The question is: Should OP start the A1 license acquisition process now or later? There are pros and cons for both approach. But in both options you can ride 125 ccm motorcycles as a less than 18 year old starting January 1st, 2021.

PS: One thing to consider is that basic motorcycle training courses during the winter months are rare and scare (exception, as usual, might be Ticino)
