Re: Giving up my car.. what is the process?

Hi all. After 18 years of faithful service, my 2002 Toyota Corolla now needs at least 4K CHFs of repairs to pass the MFK. Needless to day, the car isn't even worth 400. So, after long deliberations, I've decided to give up the car, cancel all insurance, TCS, etc. I have a General Abo for public transport, train station and shopping are all well within walking/biking distance, the car was just a luxury. Plus my wife has a car, so with a bit of planning it should be doable.

Question: what is the protocol? My garage told me they'd take it off me for spare parts or export market. But how do I go about cancelling everything? Anyone done this before?
Which kind of repairs? I have passat from 2001 and i am interested to know how Swiss MKF enforces you to 4k for repairs?

What did you do the car? Our passat is 295 000 kms
