I tried that very recently, but sadly it's really not "just as good". Quite a different consistency and lacking in richness and flavour.

Maybe for baking use it might do the job - I never use it in that way, which I think is mainly an American thing, highlighted by the use of the word "frosting" which doesn't really exist in British baking vocabulary - but as a spread it doesn't come close to being equivalent.
