Sure I want retrospectively action. If insurance companies can sign you up and bill you indiscriminately for whatever takes their fancy, where does this sort of shit stop.

I did think about it - and there's a big difference between someone making a mistake and fraud.
Bearing in mind you have a policy which I assume states that you have this cover, some part of the responsibility lies with you to actually check that it matches your requirements.
Which is also why I asked how long it has been going on. If you didn't check your policy for several years but just agreed to the amount, how is that the fault of the insurance company?
There are plenty of horror stories about insurance sellers I would agree; but there are also plenty of people who don't bother to read the details and then cry foul when they don't like the contract they signed.
