Re: Eczema cream?

We've been through the full range of products available in Switzerland for one of my kids.

As mentioned, with eczema there is usually an identifiable product/trigger...

for my child, they had allergy testing at age 12 and again at age 20. We found they were allergice to about 20 different common chemicals eg. found in cleaning products, cosmetics, and even school art supplies! - also, she was allergic to elmex toothpaste - it turns out she is quite reactive to SLS, proven by the testing, which means finding alternative shampoo, body wash, and handsoaps.

From what the original poster described, quite likely the trigger was a contact allergy to a cleaning product...once it flares the area tends to flare and grow.

I find the water really harsh too - whether it's the 'minerals' or the 'pH' of the water, I'm not sure. Hard water=lots of calcium/minerals in the water. But I also notice from time to time the chlorine levels in the water may be noticeable...

Personally I prefer to use bar soap for washing hands and body (not common here, and I need some that are less perfumed due to allergies)..

For products, if you shop in the UK or Australia you can get a brand called 'QV' - it's Australian, developed by dermatologists in conjunction with one of the large Australian hospitals, and from what I can tell, there is nothing like it easily available in Switzerland. I was able to buy it in boots on a trip a while back, and I gave the cream to a colleague who really suffers with exzema on her hands, and she loves it...
