I was actually reading that same article you linked to right before coming to this thread. I watched the video in there of the Capitol and DC police officers describing their experiences during the riots. The one talking about begging for his life and telling them that he has kids, etc., as they were trying to get his gun from him and talking about assassinating him, and him not wanting to use his gun because he knew he was so heavily outnumbered.
