Wild boar are an increasing problem in the Paris suburbs, partly due to a decreasing number of hunters, also due to the obvious difficulty of shooting with powerful guns close to houses.

My colleague, who lives in the hills south of Lake Geneva, had his lawn ploughed up several times by these monsters.
They're considering allowing bow hunting in Germany in more densely populated areas, as they also have a increasingly serious issues with wild boar. Switzerland isn't quite so bad yet, but it's an inevitable problem here too as wild pigs can reproduce twice a year leading to annual population increases of 150-200% and warmer winters contribute to a higher growth rate.
