Hi, can I ask how you solved this as I now need to do exactly the same thing and am a bit lost! Thanks!
1 ) Print this:

2) (Optional) Ask the Swiss authority if an affidavit about ones civil status can be done at any Swiss notary public or if it must be done at the British embassy in Bern.

3a) make an appointment with the British embassy for an affidavit, go to said appointment, and declare under oath your current civil status. Cost is 50.

3b) Make an appointment with a Swiss notary public. Wich might be cheaper and faster than through the embassy.

4) Submit affidavit and the document from 1) to the Swiss authoroties.
