You can also do the FIDE exam. I think it is a bit easier and it is also accepted for a C Bewilligung.
Once you have completed the A2 Course, a personal tutor is helpful to fill in the gaps.
There are also some really great books out there - This one I found really helpful:
Schaum`s Outlines - German Grammer.
As to schools - ZHAW in Zürich is really good.
EB in Zürich also has so short specific courses, like Grammer or writing. In my opinion, once you have completed a A2 Course, but struggle with one part of the language, a short specific course can be really helpful.
But yes, German is really tough!
