This probably varies depending on the insurance company. All dental insurance is optional, therefore itís not mandatory for the company to follow given rules (like there often are for basic insurance). Ours would have demanded a dental exam after the age of three (and presumably refused it if there had been any discernible major problems by then), so we got it before. Best to ask.
