I was looking at them for tabletop use, quick BBQ on the terrace without firing up the regular BBQ in the garden. Like a raclette.
And also to take camping instead of the little gas stove.

Q : For camping would it work? Can i boil a pot of water on it for example?
Q : Generally any good or just an extra gimmick?

Edit : LotusGrill -- bad title
+1 here! Yes great for Camping and you can boil a kettle of water on top of it. Biggest advantage is the speed of getting it going. I'm not overly taken with meat that is BBQ'd upon it and prefer a more classic grill where one grills over the coals. Overall though, they're very good!
