Re: Where to dispose of insurance card?

Hi everyone, how do you usually dispose of your inactive insurance card?
I'm asking because it has quite a bit of personal info on it..AHV number, date of birth, sex (just printed, and idk what else if you try to use a car reader)

....is it OK to just throw this in the bin?
The card contains sensitive identity data, including the equivalent of your social security number. https://www.edoeb.admin.ch/dam/edoeb...isch)%20v2.pdf

Better not to take the risk of data theft: https://www.generali.ch/en/blog/2018...1-datenraeuber

Cut it up with scissors vertically, to slice through any magnetic band, even hidden. Also cut through the chip if it visible. Dispose of the pieces in different bins.

Even humble looking hotel room key cards are likely to contain information such as name and credit card number (even if you don't pay by credit card, since they take your cc anyway for "deposit"). That's enough for a data thief. An AHV card is worth even more to them.
