It's noteworthy how absent us new joiners are from the thread here. It's other-worldly to read, as a new joiner, because I think we'd probably like the whole team to be replaced with a different group, in the hopes of there being more empathetic team-players in the role, as it pertains to the treatment of new joiners. That's not to say we'd be right, but our perspective would be very different to those on this thread, undoubtedly.

Not 1 mod was either friendly or welcoming to us recent new joiners, and us new joiners find their behaviour (spiteful, mean-spirited, cutting messages, and liking nasty posts that mock us and our posts) at odds with how we'd like them to handle matters.

Of course, it goes without saying, that there'll always be a whole host of different thoughts on whether the role of a mod should extend beyond policing, whether they should draw clearl boundaries between their behaviour as a mod v's poster, and posters who've been here a long time will, perhaps, be more generous in trying to understand the mod's, than we're inclined to be, having had a poor first impression.

It'd be nice to see the level of care from current and former mod's about themselves on this thread, extended to being courteous and thoughtful to new joiners, and appreciative of the handful of posters who consistently add decent content to the forums to help others.
I agree with your post but it would be good to make clear which new joiners you are representing.
