One of those little things that are different - back home in eastern europe cherries are less sweet and a bit more sour (so kind of very tasty sour-sweet juicy delight, don't mix up with proper sour cherries which are smaller and a different kind). I can see that western europe definitely prefers more sweeter variant (and its not just cherries, same for apples, pears and many more). Also cherries here are darker ones when they are ripe.

At least judging from what shops en Suisse and en France offer, local farms could have bigger variety.

I get it that folks are addicted to sugar since childhood, but its a bit sad since with this approach, such fruit is definitely moving from healthy category to not-so-much when one should actually watch how much one eats.

It used to be that healthy diet contains a lot of veggies and fruits, now its a lots of veggies and some, carefully chosen and dosed fruit.
They do.

I didn't know these big, fat, juicy cherries before I found them here in the neighbourhood. That's why they are pure luxury to me.

I'm not addicted to sugar from childhood. I'm one who did not know what chocolate was until I came to Switzerland and the grand-parents couldn't be kept under control.

To me a fruit is a fruit and I see no reason to "watch how much I eat" of them. (Okay, I don't do that with anything, full stop. I eat until I'm full - unfortunately for my desire that is always much too soon.) With seasonal things like cherries I eat kilos of them for a few weeks every year.
