Re: Tobacco Advertising Restrictions

Parliament is so beholding to big tobacco every law or regulation sent to parliament has failed by large margins.

However every federal or cantonal initiative that went to the people has passed with large majorities.

This regulation on advertising will only go into effect in 2026, 4 years after being approved by Swiss voters, but we have already seen the results. Other than at a kiosk I can’t recall the last tobacco ad that I’ve seen.

There is a typo in that story, the initiative was adopted in 2022, not 2002
