Re: Good reasonable accountant / tax advisor for Swiss expats in the UK?

Hi,

I am new here as well and the rules may not be what people think they are anymore.

I paid for advice before leaving the UK and in a nutshell, there are no rules, only policy. The Tax authorities have a list of criteria on which they judge people like us on wether we are classified as resident for tax purposes in the UK or not, which include but are not limited to;

Is family is in the UK?
Is there property in the UK?
How much time is spent in the UK (<90 days on average per year for 4 years is recommended)
Whether one belongs to any clubs socities in the UK
Is the contract of employment in Switzerland permanent?
Do you have accomodation in Switzerland?

The list goes on, but suffice to say they are checking up on some people. It is up to us to prove our cases as and when required.

If any one else has anything to add or corrrect I would be most grateful.

Regards
