Re: London to Basel via Stuttgart

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to meeting people.

I currently live in the centre of London and have realised, after spending a year living and working in Stuttgart, that smaller cities/towns work well if you have a good group of friends to socialise and explore with. So this is how I plan on living in Basel.

I'm having second thoughts on learning French though - it seems overly indulgent whereas I would be better to spend the time learning some German. If I was smart enough I'd try both, but I'm a "sciency" person not an "arty" one and find learning foreign languages difficult. I always try to find rules and logic to a language where none exist.

I was due to start work in Basel on 4th January but due to the potential BA strike I got this delayed and am doing my induction in London. I expect to fly to Basel soon after. I've never been before so it's all exciting stuff! And I'm getting no expenses so can't just find a posh hotel in the centre of town to acclimatise. I'll work it out, I'm sure.
