Non-facilitated Naturalization wait time after interview

The subject for the thread is pretty self explanatory. I had my interview at OCP Geneva earlier this week and was told my application would be sent to my commune and the federal for approval. Anybody have an idea how long it usually takes before getting a response from them? I am currently on a carte legitimation which is set to expire in December without an option for renewal (as I turn 25).

That leaves me in a bit of a dilemma of whether I should explore means to acquire another permit while the process continues. The gentleman who took my interview said it could potentially take up to a year. My sister did hers a 4 years ago (also non-EU under 25) and she got her response in 4 months. Any input?
