Also I am considering buying a car in France and bringing it in Switzerland under personal belongings. Do I need to wait to own the car for more than 6 months before bringing it over or can I bring it over since it will be a model that is a few years old?
neither option will work, unfortunately - many people here have had the same idea, just to wait with the import of the car for 6 months. But if you have already officially registered your domicile in Switzerland, they will calculate those 6 months from the entry date on your permit and tax exemptions will not apply to any cars bought later.
