Though I know you personnally and could answer to you directly () I post my answer here for everybody's benefit:

- there is no specific law in CH about what you're supposed to do with your dog in a car

For safety reasons, it's strongly advised to place the doggie in a crate. You can also buy safety short leashs that you 'plug' in the normal safety belt lockets (readily available in most petshops).

Now, as you have a child, my Brownie's trainer advised to avoid letting the dog going on the front seat, since your child is in his carseat in the back, and it's not very good for the 'hierarchy' within your family.
