There is no horizontal scrollbar
This is now fixed. We had to remove the following code from the CSS:

/* ***** Added M.Fyvie 08.05.05 for IE6 bug workaround ***** */ html { overflow-x: hidden; }
I don't know what bug was being worked around. But whatever it was, it's probably less critical now than it was five years ago, what with fading use of IE6.

Does anyone else see the picture of two guys on the front/index page? Who are these people? Where are the pics coming from?
For this thread? Saw a pic of one guy's stubbled head, no idea where it's from ...

As for the scrollbar, even in my version of Firefox it was not there, but I could still use my normal scrolling method (two fingers on the mousepad) to scroll across as well as down. Didn't notice the horizontal scrollbar was back until I read this thread!

They are images that people have uploaded and attached to a post in the thread in question. I've no idea however if this also works with images linked to off site.

Issues faced since the new look

Editor Bob
Since the anouncement of the the new look , I found a couple of issues while accessing the EF site.
I though it prudent to have a separate thread, rather than adding to the existing thread annoucing the new look and feel, however if you feel otherwise, please merge this to the original thread

a) Previously on being sent a PM, I used to get an email notification. Could be a one off case but after the look I recieved a PM but no email notification.

b) on the main hope page of the site (giving the forum overview) and recent threads, the text under the thread is the last post made by the OP of the thread. I feel it should either be the first post of the OP or the last post in that thread rather than intermediate post by the OP.

Previously the first post text was visible as a tool tip on the threat topic link.

Has any one else faced other issues?

I've had a quick look at your profile and in theory you should get the email for the PM. I'll send another Pm so that you can check it again.

Re: Issues faced since the new look

If you spin your mouse fast over the menus (e.g Quick LInks, Advertise) and end in a position where one of the sub menus is positioned, it can set them off into a repeated appear/disappear mode where you can take your hand off the mouse and they continue appearing & disappearing ad infinitum.

Re: Issues faced since the new look

I can't say I like the new format for the front page (MHO).

Using FireFox, I keep getting kicked off after a few minutes of inactivity and have to sign in again and again. Not sure if this problem is generalized or not.

This is happening to me as well.
Also if say for instance I wanted to send Verbier a PM, I used to click on his name and in the corner it would indicate - send verbier a personal message - that has gone now...

Don't you get a drop-down menu when you click on his name? I do - and in the list of choices is the send PM one. Or maybe being a Mod has its compensations after all and only we have that facility. Check it out again though.

THis is because you are being logged out. For guests the send Pm does not appear. It happened to me as well and I wondered where the menu had gone, then saw I had been logged out (again).

Maybe we get logged out so we see more ads...

Also the new search is pathetic. The aim is that users search before posting, but the new search is worse than the old one. Get rid of it and make the default the 'Google powered' option that you click on the next page.

I feel the same. The returned hits should at least have the date of the last post otherwise you have to go through them only to find out that they are outdated.

Thanks for taking this into consideration.

May I had over analyzed this but now the page has some random post rather than either the first or the last.

Same here and it does bother me, enough so as to not bother logging in again,,, every few goddamn minutes.

It's bloody dumb, by the time I have read a few posts and go back to the "today's posts" link, I've been wiped out,,, yet again....!

Mr Bob, you annoy me now too, I mean 'crimmenies', how hard would it be for you to talk to us, the 'plebs', to reassure us you have our best interests at heart?!

Even if you don't, at least give us a sign, a crumb of any sort will do...
At least make the durned "remember me" box work, otherwise,,, what's the point?

I think I have just ranted and whats more, I think it was to myself, I seem to get this whistling, echo effect as I write, ah well, I wrote, I wait, I hope.

Re: EF is getting a slightly new look

Lets face it, this new look SUCKS big time. It doesn't look friendly, its too crowded on the front page. Sometimes administrators and the like forget that "there is no forum without the members." It's a pity to mess up a good thing. Some small changes yes, but this is just bad really...
