Underlined links.
As a temporary measure until such time as the underlining is restored, or at least the link in a colour with a lot more contrast, I intend, before opening the 'box' for the link, to make my text bold and underlined.
It doesn't always seem to work with the underline but the bold comes out OK. This one for example

I'm just seeing a big grey box under the title - no links to the forum, settings, search etc

Ok, I am working on a dif PC now, monitor I mean, and EF does not work there. It's too trimmed around the right edge, so links to old pages don't show, the left buttons don't show (edit, thank and groan), the posts are too wide for the screen and I have no idea if I can shrink it. I can't even thank people, everything on left side is gone, since the picture is too big for this monitor, ugh. Are we just shrinking this all for some netbooks/cell phones? Or is it my prehistorical monitor I am on at the moment?

It might be there are some problems with some very old browsers. If you have the option I'd try Firefox, or a later version of IE.

Not that old a browser, still pretty standard across a lot of offices and companies.

Posting a reply in some threads is taking a long time and the performance of the forum seems way down.

In Firefox, going to "View -> Page Style -> No Style" fixes most of the trouble, looks a bit 1990ies, though. No style is better than one that doesn't work.
If it's just for serious thread reading, clicking on 'Thread Tools -> Show Printable Version" gets you to a version, that would probably work for those of us with old and tired eyes and/or non-geeky pre-2011 computer screens |

I think that IE6 compatibility needs to be addressed.

Search -we have lost most of the useful information in the results, and gained advertising in it's place, even when logged in.
Before the search results showed:
Thread Title, OP, when last updated, by whom, replies, if thread is open or closed, number of views and the forum section.
Now we have:
Title (replies) ADVERTISEMENT
Say I am looking to buy a satellite dish. If I search I just get a list of threads that mention it. I have to spend time reading each title to judge if it miht be an item for sale. Before I could look in the forum section column for 'For Sale', and scan the icons to see if the thread was still open.
We also lost the "My Settings" to "Advertise" in the main menu bar.
To me it seems like the agenda is boost advertising, and if functionality is in the way, advertising wins. Shame. Was it a step necessary for survival or to simply boost the owners income at the expense of our time...

What I find annoying is to have this: » Logged in as: Nil » 0 messages | My settings | Log out
In the middle on the upper page instead of the side and I don't see very well when I do have a message....

If any browser is going to be broken by a website change it'll be this one. Quite a number of sites have already dropped support for IE 6 due to security risks and because it's too much of a pain to carry on supporting.
Anyway at the moment we don't know if this particular problem is specifically related to IE 6 (although it's my suspicion that it is). As to whether IE6 compatibility can be addressed we'll have to wait for EB on that one.

I am unable to view the 3rd page of this thread without the following Database error:
I also get this error when viewing other threads as well. I get the same error (as I would expect being server-side) with both Firefox and Chrome.

The IE6 support issue is a Webwide issue - so we shouldn't really bitch about it.
HOWEVER
Considering a number of big ex-pat companies continue to use the software it might be worth considering it for the next 18months |

on my x61 at 1024x768, the CSS appears now to disappear off the right hand side (unless I F11 Chrome to it's absolute largest).
Also, do I really have to trust scripts from openx.org and jquery.com?

As I work for one of those large expat employers in Basel who uses IE6.0 as their standard browser and blocks all other installations, I'd be very happy if we could get this glitch sorted out.
Yes, I know it's probably Microsoft's fault, but I suspect I'll have more success lobbying for EF to change their interface than getting my huge, multinational employer to change the brower for 100K employees just so I can get my daily EF fix. | This user would like to thank Village Idiot for this useful post: | |

I do not use tapatalk and when I connect to the site with iPhone and open the EF in Safari browser, the search function seems to be much more responsive now than before. When I type key words, they will immediately appear on the screen in the search engine. In the past, I had to invoke the search function several times and sometimes the box would dash away and I would need to chase it in the corner. It used to behave like that even on new iPhone 4G so I guess it must have had something to do with the previous site's layout. Truly annoying feature it was. Is there any good free app and forum friendly to be downloaded?

That IE6 problem is now fixed.
