At 6am this morning we switched to the new hardware. The switch was successful this time.
For anyone interested in the technicalities, we're now operating on a dual quad-core Dell PowerEdge R410 located in Manchester. It has about twice the power of the previous server, and a fresh operating system.
There could be a few teething problems. If you notice any unusual errors please report them here.
Is this so the admin can VPN in and watch iplayer?
Re: EF hardware upgrade - Saturday 16.Jul.2011 (Update: Now complete)
Maybe in the same context as the missing update mentioned by Ouchboy: Since the hardware switch, the Discussion Forum Overview list on the home page isn't updated any more, no matter what computer or browser I use. The latest post listeded is from July 16, 04:48.
Besides that, ever since the software upgrade a few months ago, said Discussion Forum Overview list has been a mess anyway. The posts of which excerpts were shown hardly ever were the latest ones. And they all were terminated with "…", a clear sign that something was wrong.

In my defense i can only say that i thought (is that verb think or teach in participle? i ment think in case i got it wrong) the homepage was personal so i might have changed my options. Because in control panel i put the option to view threads for the past 2 weeks
