Re: Occasional special offers emailed to all EF members

The email is going out now. It is an offer with Air France.

Couldn't send it when originally planned because the French were on strike.

Re: Occasional special offers emailed to all EF members

Just got it:

Dear English Forum member,

A common characteristic of foreign residents in Switzerland is that they tend to fly in and out of the country an awful lot.

With this in mind, you might be interested in the chance of winning two roundtrip tickets to any Air France destination in the world. Or at the very least, you* can bag yourself a 50 CHF voucher off of any Air France flight.

Bon voyage!

Re: Occasional special offers emailed to all EF members

That ought to flush out DB for a comment or two .

Edit- just checked, haven't gotten it yet. Free flights for Christmas would be kewl.

Edit again, looked Genveva-Prague, the cheapest flights go through Amsterdam, the expensive ones through Paris. I guess they are charging now to lose your luggage .

The first prize excludes "airport, security and fuel taxes".

It also excluded those of us who live just across the borders.
And isn't there a huge flier across the top of the forum homepage for this 'reserved for members special ad' already?

I would not fly with Air France even if you paid me. Their safety record is terrible.

Sorry, but this offer is only available to residents of Switzerland and zone frontalière.

This came as part of the email, and the promotion is targeted to those residing or working in CH ( airfrance.ch )

It's hardly a special offer. It's more a competition

It is an extremely easy competition ( answers are almost provided to you by clicking on the link ). Fair chance to everyone actually.

I received this offer on two email addresses that are not registered with EF. I guess no-reply@englishforum.ch will be going on the black list...

I received this despite ticking the No box and my version definitely said Swiss residents only, the zone frontalière bit was missing.
Anyway, a promotion targeting those residing or working in Switzerland would by definition exclude those members who are neither.... I don't work, hubbie works in Geneva but isn't a member here.

The Local with air France

Just received an email off the local in conjunction with the English Forum and Air France. I for one am not happy about this. I didn't join this to start getting various emails. If the EF are involved with this they should come clean and tell us about it and if not the Local should be thrown out of the EF. Thoughts?

1. They did warn us about the emails.
2. One can't throw out "the Local" (who owns this board) without having an alternative.... unless you have enough money to buy it and run the place?

FYI

EF Partners with "The Local", Transfer of Ownership

EF was sold to The Local by Mark´s estate.
