Just received an email off the local in conjunction with the English Forum and Air France. I for one am not happy about this. I didn't join this to start getting various emails. If the EF are involved with this they should come clean and tell us about it and if not the Local should be thrown out of the EF. Thoughts?
I received that too and did not exactly welcome it. I believe that there is a way to opt out of receiving such emails but I can't remember how.

ahh... you and a few others have reported this.. getting emails after opting out.

I guess it's just another case of the EF master plan not going precisely, exactly, perfectly to plan.

NO is checked.

Just received the following notification from my e-mail client:

I got it too & my setting is N/A. I'm guessing that is the default.

I don't really have a problem with these types of offers if one should opt in. The people who check "no" should definitely not be getting them. There's a quick way to p!ss off your base. But I don't think an N/A should default to "yes" either. Off to check "no".

ETA: Well, it turns out my "N/A" was already turned to a "yes" by someone! WTF???? (insert angry eyes!)

I didn't get anything and it's checked YES on my settings. (not for much longer). Maybe they've got their settings the wrong way round.

Well, I checked YES and got it.

BTW, the text have been changed slightly to read as follows for the offer:

Sorry, but this offer is only available to residents of Switzerland and zone frontalière.

Yes, I wouldn't be very happy either if I requested no promotional materials to be sent to my email address but still ended up with the commercial droppings in my Inbox. We have posted this problem in the Mod Zone for Editor Bob to look into.

thanks for the heads-up

Re: Occasional special offers emailed to all EF members

Please could those of you who have said above that you received the email despite having checked 'no' on the control panel kindly send an email to support@englishforum.ch telling us the email address to which you received the email.

(If you also happen to remember when you checked 'no', that would also be helpful.)

We'll look into it.

It is an extremely easy competition ( answers are almost provided to you by clicking on the link ). Fair chance to everyone actually.
In that case it's not a competition at all (never mind a "Special Offer") but a thinly disguised lottery.

Re: Occasional special offers emailed to all EF members

Poor initial wording of the 'thing' in question, emails going and not going where they should and shouldn't go. It's all just so, oh my, words fail me- the horror, the horror.

You would think that of all places an internet forum staffed for free could avoid life shattering glitches like this. I will stock my LoLcat folder at Photobucket while I recuperate.
